The Doughnut depicts the boundaries that we must respect today: those of the social foundation and the ecological ceiling, between which the viable space of our societies falls. It was developed by an English economist, Kate Raworth, who focuses on the social and environmental challenges of the 21st century.
The Doughnut team at Confluences asbl offers its expertise to companies and organizations of all sizes as well as to administrations wishing to improve their social and environmental impact, both locally and globally.
In Brussels, the first steps in the application of the Doughnut model were taken by the BrusselsDonut project, which was rolled out between August 2020 and May 2021. Three reports present our outcomes and learnings. Since February 2022, the project has been relaunched to take a step further in the appropriation of the Donut by Brussels actors and to further flesh out the Portrait of the Region.
